Art Loop | Light Up! Toledo
Celebrate the Holidays with the final Art Loop of the 2018 season. This month features last minute gifts and shopping at local businesses and with local artist vendors, as well as holiday-themed exhibitions and light art and projection installations.
LIGHT ART AND PROJECTION INSTALLATIONS
In 2018 Toledo literally lit up with two new light installations along with the Hensville lights! On the east facade of ProMedica’s parking garage is Tower of Light, a live installation that transforms, through light, all six stories of the garage’s stairwell. Each of the 147 glass panels has a layer of acrylic with dimples holding colored LED lights. Creator of the piece, Erwin Redl designed each of the panels to be individually programmable to make up thousands of different, abstract color patterns. At the Renaissance Toledo Downtown Hotel, Integrated Visions and First Hospitality Group present MindBlown, a 6,000-square-foot piece using a technique called projection mapping that shoots video, animation, and special effects 90 feet up on the structure, synced with music. The piece was a year in the making and was created from work with local glass artists. Back by popular demand, the Hensville Lights return for the 2018 holiday season. The Hensville Park Christmas tree stands 45 feet tall and will be on display along the Monroe Street side of the park.
Hensville Lights presented by Toledo Edison and Lexus of Toledo, supported by NSG Group, Tireman and WTOL
